Hello! My name is Alessandra Rey and I am a second-year Journalism and (soon-to-be) Advertising double major at the University of Texas at Austin. As a journalist, I strive to be open, honest, and creative when it comes to telling stories of the world around us. I refuse to shy away from any topic but must admit that I am fairly partial to the performing arts. As a theater-geek myself, I believe all aspects of the arts, whether it be fashion, photography, music, dance, or writing, have important lessons to teach us in life. And though I may not be the greatest teacher, I do have a passion for telling a good story.
During my short time at UT Austin, I have joined the Cactus Yearbook staff as staff writer, covering a events ranging from volleyball matches to Campus Events + Entertainment's Creative Art and Theater's Madrigal Dinner. I have also become a member of the University Theater Guild, as saying goodbye to my high-school theater memories was more difficult than I had expected.
Apart from academic life, I have a passion for scrapbooking, visiting family in Peru, creative writing, and photography.
